New Student Chapter 10

NEW STUDENT
CHAPTER TEN

Ludwig lay up in his room, his mind a jumble and collaboration of thought and feeling. He was lying on his bed, with his hands placed comfortably behind his head of wet, shaggy blond hair. His blue eyes were locked into a staring contest with the lightly textured, faded white ceiling; he had been this way for a good 20 minutes, since he had gotten out of the shower. His eyes began to sting a little, and the ceiling won. The young German's pale, bare chest rose and fell at a slow, yet steady rate. Ludwig knew that he was getting his pillows and comforter wet where he was lying. He hadn't fully dried himself off with a towel after he took a shower, and to be honest, at the moment, he didn't really give a damn. He had just wanted to get out of the bathroom and isolate himself in his room, the only safe place he really had left.

The German reached a hand from behind his head and pushed some hair out of his eyes. "Vhat have I done?" he thought out loud to himself. Ludwig sat up, hearing the loud footsteps of his brother walking down the hall; he calmly got up and locked his door. The last thing he wanted was Gilbert walking in and prying into his mind to figure out why he was quieter than usual. He then walked over to the other side of the room and grabbed his iPod out of his backpack, the dark green silicon case coming off a little. Ludwig adjusted it before putting the black ear buds in. He gently lay back down on his bed, putting the music player on his stomach, the green rubber felt odd against his bare skin.

He put the music on shuffle, and "No Surprise" by Daughtry came on. Ludwig sighed as the music began to flow through the headphones and into his ears, soothing him somewhat. But, his sore, tense muscles and strained nerves refused to completely calm down. This only agitated him more; he could already feel a migraine beginning to form in the front of his head. But, he knew that there would be many, many more headaches to come in the next several months. That was what had been on the blonds mind for several days.

Ludwig rubbed his forehead with his thumb and forefinger, trying to ease some of the pain. 'I've been such an idiot,' he thought to himself. 'I never should have done vhat I did, it vas shtupid und I should have kept myself under control!' he thought angrily, rubbing his forehead harder; this only made the pain worse, though.

Ludwig sighed heavily, though it was more of a huff than a sigh. He then pulled the ear buds out of his ears and setting them beside him, before placing his iPod beside them. "Vhat am I going to do?" he asked no one in particular. "I can barely manage to take care of my own country. So how in ze hell am I going to be able to take care of a child? And zere is no vay I vill make Tessa do it alone…" he soon trailed off, letting his worried thought carry him into a deep sleep, which was filled with worried dreams.
